#PRIDE #BB was initiated in 2018 by people from Inokraj. The tagline of the first PRIDE BB was "Let's COME OUT together!" In 2019, dramaturgy revolved around the topic of social and ecological justice. The claim was that the real threat to humanity is an ecological crisis, not LGBTI+ people as presented by some populists and religious fundamentalists. As legislation in Slovakia still does not recognize any form of same-sex relationship nor the social and economical status of rainbow families, the topic of the 2020 #PRIDE #BB was "A Stranger To One's Own Country". The Walt Whitman's famous lines: "Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?" - were illuminating not only the urge for a dialogue but also for courage to listen, and to understand each other. Starting a new decade in 2021, the topic of TRANSCENDENCE set the mood for overcoming boundaries, binaries and dualities. However, having lived in a heteronormative and sexist world for so long, this inner work is never easy. And so, in 2022, we need EQUILIBRIUM more than ever.

Inokraj was founded by a group of 10 people living in Banská Bystrica and Zvolen in May 2015. Our motivation was to raise awareness of the LGBTI+ community in the Banská Bystrica region, especially after the unfortunate referendum that sparked the war of opinions in Slovakia instead of a serious debate between experts and society. However, this does not mean there has been no homophobia before. At that time, it only gained media attention and legitimacy. Since then, nothing much has changed... In Inokraj, everyone who cares about human and civil rights for all is welcome.
